Gold vermeil is like gold plating, whereby a layer of real gold is layered over a base of different metal. However, 18K gold vermeil refers to a much thicker layer (a minimum of 5x the thickness of plating) of real 18 karat gold, and it must be layered over 925 sterling silver – giving your jewellery an excellent finish and incredible durability.
