You've decided to pop the question, so now all you need to do is find the perfect engagement ring! The diamond engagement ring is a timeless classic, and here you will find an introduction to this very popular type of ring. This selection offers just a taste of our complete collection of solitaire rings , which are also a popular engagement ring choice.

Please note: we have a further 220 solitaire rings which are normally purchased as engagement rings.

With an engagement ring representing the ultimate symbol of love and the general guide that you should spend the equivalent of two month’s salary on the ring, it is imperative that you find a ring which reflects the wearer’s individuality.

Every love is unique, and so is every diamond. The shape of the diamond and style of the setting are the most important factors. The actual diamond accounts for anything between 75% and 90% of the cost of the ring. Princess cut Diamonds are amongst the most popular.Look at the type of ring that your partner already wears to ensure that you buy something that will suit them and which they will find attractive.

Prong settings allow the diamond to be the main attraction as it simplistic in design and allows light in from all sides for maximum refraction and sparkle.

The cathedral/contour is similar to the prong but has riding slopes on both sides and provides an elegant and slightly more secure way to display your diamonds.

If you want diamonds which are understated and sit between two parallels of metal, then the channel design allows the band and stone to have their own distinction.

The bar setting is from a bygone era with a thin metal strip separating each diamond while leaving the sides open to let in the light.

Bezel is a classic and timeless setting that frames the diamond in precious metal. This draws attention to the stone and offers the most secure setting.

Pave rings are made up of tiny metal bands which hold each individual stone in a discreet and sophisticated setting.

Finally are the tension setting which grips the diamond with 65-95 pounds of pressure and creates the illusion of the stone being suspended in space: the flush is a high impact, low stress setting which has small diamonds set in tiny holes.

If you are buying your loved one an engagement ring as a surprise then a good way to ensure you get the right size is to place one of their existing rings on a piece of paper and draw a line around the inside of it. Alternatively place the ring on your own finger and push it down as far as it will go. Mark the spot it fits with a pen and then ask a jeweller to take a measurement before you wash it off!
